8th Congress of the European Region of the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, Dublin, Ireland (23-25 April 2015). This major conference was visited by thousands of professionals from all European countries and beyond. It was organized by Desmond O’Neill and other colleagues from Ireland. The yearly “Theoretical Developments in Social Gerontology Award’ has been initiated by Scott Bass from the American University, Washington D.C., in cooperation with the Gerontological Society of America. It has played an important role in stimulating theoretical work and reflection in a field that is mostly overburdened with practical demands. The 2014 Awardees are Ken Ferraro and Patricia Morton. The celebration took place during the Annual Scientific Meeting of the Gerontological Society of America, in Washington D.C.
